Dairy Free Products

Cashew nut butter has been fantastic for my little one. T absolutely loves the stuff.

Peanut butter can be controversial, some advise avoiding it where nut allergies run in the family. Often, however, it can come with additives including sugar and salt which you want to avoid in babies.

T loves nut butter spread on toast or rice cakes, spread onto sticks of apple and pear, or smeared on banana.

Cashew nut butter - not on any commission to sell!
Babies under 1 year should have no more than 1g of salt in their diet. These stock cubes from boots are fantastic as they contain NO salt.

I use these in everything!

Dairy free replacement 'Butter'
There are quite simply dozens of dairy free spreads available on the market, but this is the best one I have tasted so far.

The best of the substitute 'butters' I have found.

I use it in cooking the adult meals too, (like making scrambled eggs or mashed potato) so I know that if T swipes any from my plate, I can be confident that it's suitable for him too.

Hello Wimbledon...

Oatly makes a great dairy free substitute milk. I use this when cooking dishes for the whole family instead of something like soy milk. It has a neutral taste (I find almond milk can be too nutty for many dishes).

Snacks on the Go
These rice cakes go everywhere with me. Many of the packets of finger foods that you can buy in the shops have dairy in the ingredients. These have virtually nothing added.

Rice cakes - great finger food on the go.

Does it live up to the hype?

Coconut Milk Yoghurt

Dairy Free yoghurt

There is little I can give T in the way of yoghurts, since we are avoiding soya as well at the moment (I do plan to reintroduce this soon, though). I discovered this one in our local health food shop. At the moment, T seems to have days where he likes it, and days that he doesn't, but I always manage to finish off whatever he hasn't eaten ;-)

Treat time!

These were introduced to me by a friend, and they are great for the older baby or child as a dairy free treat who otherwise might feel like they are missing out on the treats that their friends have.
